JOLED Prototypes Printed OLED Panels
JOLED, a Japan-based panel maker established in January 2015 by Pansonic, Sony, INCJ and Japn Display, will release prototype printed OLED panels initially for use in commercial displays in the first half of 2017.
JOLED has been working on printed OLED panels using its proprietary technologies involving an RGB printing method, top mission, and Transparent Amorphous Oxide Semiconductor (TAOS) backplane.
Without using vacuum equipment, the production cost for printed OLED panels is 30-40% less than that for conventional evaporation-based OLED panels. JOLED has developed 21.6-inch Ultra HD printed OLED panels with a high ppi (pixel per inch).
JOLED plans to use oxide semiconductors as substrates to produce 10- to 30-inch printed OLED panels and aims to fully utilize its production capacity by April 2018.
