- Writing Quality

* Verbatim 2.4X DVD+R Double Layer Media

Using KProbe v2.2.2 at 6X, we got a rather good scan, indicating, again, good quality performance from the drive with the recorded DL media.

Using the Plextor PX-712A and PlexTools, we were able to scan the DVD+R DL media. The disc is recognized as DVD-ROM and as we can see the quality is very good:

* TraxData 2.4X DVD+R9 Double Layer Media

This time, the burning quality wasn't so impressive since in Layer1, the writing quality seems much worse than in Layer0. LG said that officially, under A102 firmware, Ritek DL media isn't supported, but newer firmware should fix this problem.

The Plextor PX-712A drive stops reading when it reaches Layer0 with un-correctable error...

- Compatibility

Unfortunately, we were not surprised to see that the DVD+R9 media was not compatible with most stand-alone dvd players, since there is no official booktype bitsetting utility provided by LG. Both Double Layer media were recorded with DVD+R DL booktype.
