The LG GX features a 5.5-inch full HD IPS display, a quad-core Snapdragon 600 CPU, a 13 megapixel camera, 32GB of onboard storage and a 3,140 mAh battery. The LG GX actually shares the almost same specifications with the LG Optimus G Pro, although it features a diferent design, new user interface feaures and better LTE connecivity.

The new phone has a 5.5-inch IPS screen at 1080p, it is powered by a quad-core Snapdragon 600 processor with 2GB of RAM, which matches the G Pro, but falls a little short of the Snapdragon 800 inside the G2. Partnership with Huawei?

Staying with LG, the company is reportedly trying to expand its partnership with China's Huawei in a bid to create a turnaround for its smartphone business.

"As far as I know, LG Electronics is considering establishing a joint venture (JV) with Huawei to revive its smartphone business. LG has competitive offerings focused at the high-, mid-, and low-end segments of the market. If it establishes the JV, then LG's smartphone business will improve and be much better, helping it become as the firm leader among the second-tier handset makers," Mark C. Newman, a senior analyst at Sanford C. Bernstein told The Korea Times.

However, LG quashed that rumor, saying "there is no discussion now or in the past with Huawei on any aspects of LG Electronics? business."

LG's global smartphone share has reduced to 4.8 percent by the third quarter of this year, taking a step back to No. 4 after Huawei, according to Strategy Analytics.
