Memorex Introduces 2GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive, Industry's Fastest and Highest Capacity Portable Storage Device

Memorex Introduces 2GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive, Industry's Fastest and Highest Capacity Portable Storage Device

Enterprise & IT Sep 10,2004 0

Memorex TravelDrive delivers high performance, style and tons of storage 2GB capacity perfect for business travelers, photographers, graphic artists and packrats alike.

Memorex once again fulfills the need for speed and high performance with the Memorex TravelDrive?, now available with a massive 2GB of portable storage. The new cutting edge 2GB TravelDrive delivers industry-leading performance, the highest capacity currently available among portable Flash drives, and a stylish ergonomic design at an exceptional value.

The newest member of Memorex's TravelDrive family boasts industry-leading performance with read speeds of up to 25 MB per second and write speeds of up to 20 MB per second, both four times faster than competing USB Flash drives. With 2GB of capacity, consumers can store more than 600 songs in MP3 format, 6,000 digital photos and thousands of text files. The device is an especially convenient, lightweight back-up method for laptop users on the go. The extra capacity also makes this TravelDrive ideal for photographers, graphic artists, designers and others who regularly create large files and share them with clients and colleagues. A data protection switch prevents accidental deletion of important data, and the 2GB TravelDrive gives consumers added flexibility and convenience on the go, thanks to a greater storage limit and faster data transfers.

According to analyst firm IDC, more than 23 million USB flash drives were shipped last year, and by 2008, that number is expected to grow 40 percent to 125 million units. "Consumers are fast recognizing the benefits of portable storage like USB Flash drives" said Steve Fung, product marketing manager for Flash storage products. "They want a convenient, quick way to save and share their digital assets, and the 2GB TravelDrive is the first device of its kind to meet those needs with the kind of capacity demanded by power users".

The Memorex TravelDrive is ideal for transferring data, digital photos, MP3 files and video from computer to computer, even from Mac to PC, and back again! The TravelDrive features the slimmest profile among portable Flash drives and sports a unique silver and black design that fits right on a keychain. A soft-to-touch, thumb-sized, rubber grip area makes the TravelDrive ergonomic and unlike most other USB drives on the market, ensures that the device is always easy to handle.

The TravelDrive plugs directly into a computer's USB port; users can save their files to it, then take them home, to the office, to school or anywhere in between.

Pricing and Availability

The Memorex 2GB TravelDrive has a suggested retail price of $299.99. It will be available at consumer electronics retailers nationwide and online beginning this month. The Memorex TravelDrive also is available with 128MB, 256MB, 512MB and 1GB of capacity, with suggested retail prices from $34.99 to $179.99.
