NEC releases its first 16x DVD ±Writer with double layer technology
NEC's ND-3500A up to 8.5GB with maximal 4x speed
NEC introduced its first dual 16x DVD recording drive, that supports in addition to 16x write speed for DVD-R and +R media and 4x write or rewrite with DVD-RW and +RW media to write up to 8.5GB on the new double layer DVD +R9 media with maximal 4x speed.
Besides DVD recording, the drive writes CD-R media with up to 48x speed as well as Ultra-Speed CD-RW discs up to 24x. The read speed of 16x for DVD-ROM and 48x for CD-ROM in combination with the access time of 140 ms for DVD and 120ms for CD comprise the most important 9 optical storage functions in 1 drive without compromises in performance the ideal all in one optical device.
The ND-3500A offers fastest available DVD recording together with high speed CD recording and excellent read performance by using NECs know how developing and producing highly reliable optical storage devices.
With the ND-3500A not only the user do not need to decide for a DVD format over another he has the freedom to choose the DVD R media of his choice without a compromise in performance or storage capacity: 1 hour DVD Video can be record in just 6 minutes.
Whether consumer desire to share cost-efficient home movies, music and/or private data by using write once discs, or like to store any kind of digital data only for a certain period by using rewriteable discs, the NEC ND-3500A is capable to store up to 8.5 GB onto one DVD disc (or 700 Kbyte on a CD disc).
The ND-3500A takes advantage of NECs high resolution writing strategy and of an improved version of NECs Active Optimized Power Control (Active OPC). The high resolution writing strategy, uses advanced laser modulation to enhance the accuracy of the written data. Active OPC dynamically monitors writing power and reflection of the media in use, calculating the optimum laser power and adjusting it in real-time. Not only a media type itself is written in the optimum way but even local anomaly on the used media can be handled in the optimum way by NEC technology. Besides, NEC implemented its own developed buffer under run error prevention technology.
In Europe the DVD burner will be available in August. A current list with recommended media will be available shortly at www.de.nec.de.
