New Crucial MX100 SSD Series Coming Soon

Crucial will soon officially announce its new 16nm MX100 solid state drives but their specifications have alerady appeared online. The MX100 series will include 128 GB, 256 GB and 512 GB versions. The SSDs will be the first to utilize Micron's 16 nm MLC NAND flash memory.

The MX100 drives come in a 7 mm-thick 2.5-inch chassis, have a SATA 6.0 Gbps interface, use Marvell 88SS9189 controllers and are backed by a two-year warranty.

According to specifications that appeared online by a Crucial distributor, the new SSDs will offer sequential read speeds of 550 MB/s while write speeds top 350 MB/s for the 128 GB and 500 MB/s for the, 256 GB and 512 GB models.

The MX100 features Native Write Acceleration, Adaptive thermal monitoring, defect, error management and hardware encryption technologies. The series is also compatible with Microsoft's eDrive standard.

The drives are listed online priced at €70 (128GB), €95(256 GB) and €185 (512 GB).
