New FX-50: Mobile DVD burning with 16x & double-layer technology
The latest external multi-format DVD-burner from the Freecom FX-50 series is the first mobile device to offer 16x writing speed combined with the innovative double-layer technology, and is available in shops immediately.
As in the case of original films on pre-recorded DVDs, the FX-50 drive writes two superimposed layers of data on the same side of the blank DVD, making the "turning" of the data medium during the burning process unnecessary. In the case of films, this additional memory space - almost double that of a conventional DVD - can be used for additional language tracks for example.
DVD+R9 (Double Layer) media, which is compatible with DVD-ROM drives and DVD players, can be written by the latest Freecom drive at 4x speed. The FX-50 reads and writes DVD+R(W) and DVD-R(W) at 16x speed, re-writing them at 4x speed. The new Freecom drive therefore takes less than 8 minutes to write a conventional 4.7-Gigabyte disc. CD -R(W) media are read and written at 48x speed, and re-written at 24x speed.
The FX-50 external multi-format burner is installed in seconds: it is simply connected to the USB 2.0 or FireWire interface using the supplied connection cable, which is automatically recognised by the operating system of the computer, and is then ready for immediate use. No restart of the PC or Mac is required.
Freecom supplies the FX-50 DVD+/-RW Double Layer complete with USB 2.0 and FireWire connection cable and a comprehensive software suite. The current Roxio Easy CD & DVD Creator DVD Edition burner software also includes DVD-Builder for video editing, DVD authoring and the DVDMax DVD-player software. The software supplied can be used for the professional editing of video, photo and music files, and the quick and easy creation of back-ups. The package also includes a power supply unit, one DVD+R, one CD-R and the 7-language manual.
