GPUs Jul 12,2010 0

Nvidia has officially released the GTX 460 is the first graphics card that will be able to play today's Direct X 11 titles at high resolution - 1920x1200 - with playable frame rates, for under $230. Compared to the GeForce 8800 GT, for example, the GTX 460 provides 4.5x the geometry horsepower, up to 2.6x the gaming performance, 4.5x the PhysX performance, and 3D Vision in full 1080P HD, according to Nvidia.

The GTX 460 is based on Nvidia's new 40nm GF104 Fermi GPU. It has 56 texture units, 336 CUDA cores and clocks of 675 MHz for the GPU, 1350 MHz for the shaders and a memory clock of 3600 MHz. Additionally, the model has a power draw of 160W and a pair of 6-pin connectors meant to provide said energy. The comapny offers two versions of its newcomer. One has 768MB of GDDR5 and a memory interface of 192 bits, whereas the other has 1GB VRAM and an interface of 256 bits.

Nvidia's parnters Asus (ENGTX460), MSI (N460GTX CYCLONE), Zotac, Inno3D and others are already offering their products based on the GTX 460.

Below you can see comparison among the Nvidia's new GTX460 and the company's GTX480, GTX470 and GTX465 graphics cards:
