Nokia Said To Release VR Device

Nokia Said To Release VR Device

Enterprise & IT Jul 22,2015 0

This one is totaly unconfrirmed, but we can do nothing but mentioning it. Nokia is set to return to be readying a for virtual reality launch, with new hardware coming as soon as next week. While under the agreement to sell its devices business to Microsoft last year prevents Nokia from making a return to the smartphone business until at least the end of 2016, the company seems to be seeking for alternative routes back into the consumer hardware market.

According to Recode, Nokia's forthcoming VR kit will be built in-house by Nokia Technologies.
Invitations for a press event next week have been sent out with the cryptic tagline "Nowhere/Now Here".

Nokia declined to comment.

A virtual reality product would compete against a number of high-profile virtual reality and augmented reality devices, from Microsoft's HoloLens and Facebook-owned Oculus Rift to the Google-backed Magic Leap as well as offerings from Sony, HTC, and Samsung.

The company earlier this month hinted that it could return to the handset business, at least as a manufacturer.
