Nokia and SK Telecom on Monday opened a 5G Research Center" in Gangnam, southern Seoul.

Besides the R&D related to the 5G technology, the two companies will focus on developing advanced data-transmitting technology on the cloud computing-based virtualized base stations.

Earlier this year, chief technology officers at Nokia and SK Telecom agreed to collaborate on testing and verifying 5G technology at Nokia's headquarters in Finland.

Just a few days ago, Samsung also announced a collaboration with LG U+ on the 5G technology.
