OCZ Announces First High-Speed Data Link SSD

OCZ Announces First High-Speed Data Link SSD

PC components Oct 1,2010 0

OCZ today provided details on the IBIS Solid-state drives, the company's first 3.5" SSD product based on the new High Speed Data Link (HSDL) interface. OCZ has developed HSDL to eliminate I/O bottlenecks and enable SSD technology to operate at its full potential. Capable of running up to 20Gbps of data bandwidth per channel, HSDL significantly outperforms existing storage interfaces such as Serial ATA (SATA) and Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) which only offer 3Gbps/6Gbps data rates.

OCZ's new HSDL interface is the driving force behind the "OCZ IBIS," the new 3.5-inch SSD to be launched under the new HSDL initiative.

As the first SSD to make use of the proprietary HSDLinterface, the IBIS promises to deliver incredible performance (740MBps read/write speeds and up to 120,000random write IOPS).

IBIS SDs will be available in a completes spectrum of capacities ranging from 100GB to 960GB. Each IBIS comes in a durable aluminum 3.5inch housing and is bundled with a single port HSDL adapter card and comes backed by a 3-year warranty .
