OCZ Brings Their Reaper HPC Design to Two New DDR2-800 Kits

OCZ Brings Their Reaper HPC Design to Two New DDR2-800 Kits

PC components Apr 27,2007 0

OCZ Technology today announced two new additions to the Reaper HPC family. The two new kits will be available in two classifications depending on the platform at hand and desired performance levels. While both feature DDR2-800 speeds, the PC2-6400 Reaper Enhanced Bandwidth Edition is designed for optimal performance on NVIDIA nForce 680i chipsets.

The PC2-6400 Reaper EB increases effective memory bandwidth through the optimization of memory latencies between the system memory, the chipset, and memory controller. At 800MHz, the Reaper EB edition is rated for 4-3-3 timings on 680i platforms, while the standard PC2-6400 Reaper is rated to run CL4-4-4.

These DDR2-800 modules feature the Reaper HPC (Heat Pipe Conduit) heatspreader which is engineered to deliver silent heat dissipation over traditional heatspreaders. As heat rises into the thermo-conductive copper heat pipe conduit, it is dissipated through a compact aluminum fin array. By guiding performance-robbing heat away from key memory components, the Reaper HPC design maximizes passive cooling to improve longevity and stability of the modules.

PC2-6400 Reaper memory modules are built with an EPP (Enhanced Performance Profiles) programmed SPD to provide a "Plug and Play" overclocking feature on NVIDIA nForce platforms that eliminates the need for manual configuration. In EPP mode, these modules are rated to run with their enhanced latencies at 800MHz instead of the stock specification.

The PC2-6400 Reaper HPC series will be available in 2GB (2x1024MB) dual channel kits.
