3. Using the device
As always, we should note here that testing a PSU is not very easy and it requires use of specific equipment that would provide information about the current the PSU offers under load, the efficiency of the PSU at average operating levels as well as any power or current limits our PSU might have.
Unfortunately, we don't have such a testing equipment in our labs so what we can just do is to use the device and have an idea of its performance using worst case estimations. So we tried to add enough load to the CPU and graphics systems using a 3D Mark Vantage and PC Mark Vantage. Our test PC was also loaded::
- Asus P5K Premium + Intel Q9300
- 2x Asus EN9800GTX
- 2x1GB Crucial PC2-8000
- 1xWD 80JB SATA I
- 1xSeagate 80GB SATAII
- Windows VISTA 32bit SP1
All PSU ratings were monitored with Everest Ultimate Edition v3.0. The following table lists the industry specifications for DC Output Voltage Regulation.
After running both benchmarks, we monitored the outputs (voltage). A summary of the results can be found in the following table:

The results are very good considering that we are using a dual graphic cards setup. The variation for the +12V is acceptable (~0.05V).
