OCZ to Showcase Solid State Virtualization Solutions at VMworld
OCZ Technology will showcase its enterprise solid state virtualization solutions at this year's VMworld Barcelona 2012, from October 9th through October 11th.
Featured solutions include OCZ's fourth generation Z-Drive R4 PCI Express (PCIe) SSD and VXL cache and virtualization software that delivers flash data caching into VMware virtualized server platforms. This VMware Ready solution distributes flash caching resources on-demand across virtual machines (VMs) to maximize performance, and distributes the flash between VMs based on need, making sure that no VM inefficiently occupies flash when it can be better used elsewhere in the environment.
One of the key advantages of OCZ solid-state virtualization is its ability to support end-to-end VMware Fault Tolerance (FT) without the need for a back-end storage area network (SAN). For this High Availability (HA) 'SAN-less' data center scenario, flash data is synchronously replicated by VXL software between Z-Drive R4 PCIe SSD cards residing on redundant cluster servers assuring that host-based flash is treated as a continuously available storage resource across VMware clusters. This approach yields no data loss and no VM downtime even during complete server failures.
