Padus releases free tool allowing developers to mount .CDI file format

General Interest May 18,2002 0

Padus, industry leaders and creators of the Padus Foundation Class™ (PFC), an optical disc software toolkit for the Windows® operating systems, has relased a tool allowing other developers to integrate the disc image format found in the PFC. The .CDI File Mounter allows any developer to incorporate the ability to mount a CD/DVD image created by the PFC. The tool has been put to good use since September of 2001 in DAEMON Tools, an innovative freeware package that allows Windows users to mount a variety of CD/DVD image formats as functioning drive devices. With DAEMON Tools, anyone with .CDI or .ISO disc images created by DiscJuggler, DiscJuggler.NET, or the Padus Foundation Class can access the contents of these discs without having to write to physical media.

The .CDI File Mounter is available for download at the following location: .CDI File Mounter(http://www.padus.com/downloads/cdi.php). Included in the 80KB ZIP file is the Application Extension (.DLL), the C++ header file from the .DLL, and the Object File Library. The C++ header file contains a wealth of documentation in comments, including sample code to open the Table of Contents from the CD/DVD image file.
