Pioneer and Swiss Re Collaborate on a Telematics Driver Assistance Solution

Pioneer and Swiss Re Collaborate on a Telematics Driver Assistance Solution

Enterprise & IT Oct 17,2019 0

Pioneer Corp. and reinsurance provider Swiss Re announced a collaboration to
introduce a Telematics Solution in the beginning of 2020.

The telematics solution supports safe driving behavior. In particular, Swiss Re will incorporate Pioneer’s safety solution system “MAP-ADAS” into their Telematics application “Coloride” and in conjunction with Pioneer’s in-vehicle IoT hardware, will enable real-time driver warning, more accurate risk assessment, high-precision impact detection, and prompt action in the event of an accident.

Swiss Re's Coloride apps assign a risk score to each driver that an insurer can use to calculate the usage-based insurance premium. By offering a financial incentive to cautious drivers and flagging risky behaviour, insurers can encourage responsible driving.

With the new solution, Coloride will provide real-time driver warnings based on Pioneer's map data and ADAS algorithms. These warnings help drivers to avoid accidents. Additionally, the new solution can be extended with a range of devices that collect acceleration data to identify and reconstruct a crash. Some of the devices also have a manual emergency button, so the driver can call for support after an accident.

Pioneer has been offering an ADAS solution system, “Intelligent Pilot”, through the deployment of its digital map-based accident risk prediction platform and connected IoT devices in Japan since April 2017 in an effort to reduce traffic accidents. The collaboration with Swiss Re will enable Pioneer to supply a telematics solution globally.
