Pioneer announces "global industry recognition for DVD-A03 writer"

Pioneer announces "global industry recognition for DVD-A03 writer"

General Interest Dec 13,2001 0

Pioneer today announced "...Pioneer's DVD-R/RW writer the DVD-A03, the first solution of its kind, was introduced at the CeBIT computer fair in March 2001. Since then, the product has received numerous industry awards and rave reviews from leading computer magazines globally, and coupled with the broad range of compelling applications enabled by DVD has caught the imagination of computer users worldwide. In just six months over 800,000 writers have shipped to leading manufacturers including Apple, Compaq, Sony Vaio and NEC-CI Packard-Bell as well as direct to consumers.." A key attraction of the DVD-A03 is its ability to enhance the home moviemaker's studio. Home movies can be easily transferred from a digital camera to the hard drive of a Mac or PC. Applying the latest advances in PC-based editing software, budding film editors can bring the movie to life with professional quality audio soundtracks and special effects. Once a film is complete, it can be saved to a DVD-R/RW disc and then played back on the millions of computers with DVD-ROM drives. Alternatively, the film can be premiered on the living room TV by using a compatible DVD player*.

With up to seven times the capacity of a CD and enhanced digital audio and video capabilities, the DVD-A03 is an ideal storage solution - from general purpose archiving to data intensive film and video applications. The product is the only solution to support the option of using re-write or write once discs; ensuring important data from family videos to financial records is never accidentally lost.

With DVD-R and RW media prices falling all the time the DVR- AO3 solution has become very affordable. You can now pick up branded DVD-R media for under 10 Euro (+ Tax)!

DVD plays a pivotal role in converging consumer electronics and IT - creating an exciting new wave of applications. Indeed, initial sales of the DVD-A03, together with the support of leading PC manufacturers, suggests that the DVD-R/RW is set to become the de facto platform for general purpose IT and home entertainment storage applications.

* Some DVD-ROM drives and DVD-Video players cannot playback the DVD-R/RW media. A hardware or software DVD decoder is required for DVD-Video playback on the PC platform.
