Plextor today announced the new M2P Series Solid State Drive with fast random read-and write speeds of 70,000 / 65,000 IOPS and sequential read- and write speeds up to 500 Mb/s and 440 Mb/s. Exclusive firmware bolsters stability and performance bringing advanced features including Instant Restore, Global Wear Leveling, and Bad Block Management. These features work together to prevent the performance of your SSD dropping after an extensive use and periods of continuous operation. This is what True Speed is about. SSD manufacturers tend to communicate speeds that reflect compressed data in a simulated benchmark test. In a real world situation the performance levels are much lower, as many forms of data (JPEG images, MP3s, etc.) are already highly compressed. The M2P Series SSD is powered by the Marvell 88SS9174 controller chip supporting the latest generation SATA III 6Gb/s interface and the Japanese NAND flash from Toshiba.
