Redmi on a Roll – Redmi Note 8 Pro With a 64-megapixel Camera, Redmi TV and New RedmiBook
Today, Xiaomi VP and Redmi CEO Lu Weibing announced Redmi’s latest smartphone, Redmi Note 8 and Redmi Note 8 Pro, during a launch event at Xiaomi’s new campus.
Redmi Note 8 Pro is the company’s first 64-megapixel camera smartphone utilizing the Samsung GW1 64MP sensor, and sports the latest MediaTek Helio G90T chipset. Redmi Note 8 is equipped with 48MP quad camera, 18W fast-charging, and offers the most powerful audio system yet from the Redmi Note series.
Redmi also debuted its first TV – Redmi TV, and added a new laptop to its existing product line – RedmiBook 14 Pro.
Redmi Note 8 Pro
Redmi Note 8 Pro is powered by the latest MediaTek Helio G90T processor, an octa-core CPU clocked up to 2.05GHz. Your gaming sessions will be powered by an Arm Mali-G76 3EEMC4 GPU with a max frequency of 800MHz, providing AI power up to 1TMACs. Combining this with the powerful LiquidCool system, Redmi Note 8 Pro can sustain peak performance for extended periods. Redmi Note 8 Pro sports the latest Samsung 64MP GW1 sensor, equipped with ISOCELL Plus technology and a staggering 64 million pixels. This means the rear camera delivers insanely high-resolution photos for print mediums as tall as 3.26 meters in height. In addition to the 64MP primary camera, the device is equipped with an 8MP ultra-wide lens with a 120° field of view, 2MP macro lens, and 2MP depth sensor.
Redmi Note 8 Pro uses Corning Gorilla Glass 5 on both front and rear, protecting it from both accidental falls and day-to-day wear and tear. The device is offered in three colors, Mineral Grey, Pearl White and Forest Green.
Featuring a large 6.53” FHD+ dot drop display, the screen-to-body ratio of Redmi Note 8 Pro up to 91.4 percent and received low-blue-light eye protection certification by Germany’s TÜV Rheinland. Redmi Note 8 Pro builds on the Redmi Note tradition with a massive 4500mAh battery. In order to ensure durability, the entire device of Redmi Note 8 Pro uses IP5 splash-proof technology which offers effective protection against rain and sweat. Redmi Note 8 Pro also offers 18W Type-C fast charging, multifunctional NFC, IR blaster and 3.5mm headphone jack. With the 1217SLS speakers and Smart PA, it ensures a better gaming audio experience.
Redmi Note 8: 18W fast charge in-box
Redmi Note 8 presents an upgrade over its predecessor, Redmi Note 7. It offers a 48MP quad camera, Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 SoC, enhanced audio features, faster 18W charging and design. In addition to these upgrades, Redmi Note 8 still retains many features, such as USB Type-C, 3.5mm headphone jack, and an IR blaster.
Redmi Note 8 Pro will be available for pre-order on August 29 at 4:30pm China Standard Time, and open sale at 10am on September 3 in Chinese Mainland. The device will start at RMB 1,399 for the 6GB+64GB, RMB 1,599 for 6GB+128GB version, and RMB 1,799 for 8GB+128GB version.
Redmi Note 8 will be available for pre-order on September 10 at 10am, and open sale at 10am on September 17 in Chinese mainland. The device will retail at RMB 999 for the 4GB+64GB version, RMB 1199 for the 6GB+64GB version and RMB 1399 for the 6GB+128GB version.
Redmi TV 70”
Redmi also announced the Redmi TV 70”, a 4K TV that sports a minimalist design. It has a viewing area 60% larger than 55-inch screens and it is powered by a 6th Gen Amlogic processor with 14 image-enhancing technologies.
The TV utilizes a 64-bit octacore processor with 2GB ram and 16GB storage, and 2.4G/5G dual-band WiFi. Redmi TV 70” runs on PatchWall AI TV system, with personalized recommendations for users.
Redmi TV 70” allows you to plug your USB directly into the device to view all of your files, or use wireless screencast with Mi Laptops or Smartphones. The TV also includes a Bluetooth voice command enabled remote. Just press the dedicated voice button to call our smart assistant XiaoAI, search for your shows or control smart devices in your house. With the press of a button, you can check the status of your devices and receive notifications.
Redmi TV 70” is available for RMB 3799. Pre-order begins August 29 at 4:30pm China Standard Time, and open sales will start on September 10 at 10am through official Xiaomi Chinese mainland channels.
RedmiBook 14 Pro
Redmi also unveiled RedmiBook 14 Pro, an enhanced version of its previous RedmiBook 14. Powered by the latest 10th generation Intel core processor, RedmiBook 14 Pro has increased its overall performance by 13% compared to the previous gen processor. Along with NVIDIA 25W TDP GeForce MX250 graphics card, 2GB GDDR5 graphics memory, 8GB DDR4 RAM and 512GB hard drive storage, and a large fan cooling mechanism, RedmiBook is fully capable of running mainstream games and managing video editing tasks.
RedmiBook 14 Pro sports a full metallic body, featuring a 14-inch full HD display with 5.75mm ultra-slim bezels, and an 81.2% increased body-to-screen ratio. In addition to its silver colour available on RedmiBook 14, the Pro version now offers two new colours – dark grey and pink. Weighing 1.5kg, RedmiBook Pro 14 boasts a long 10-hours of battery life with quick charge supported, allowing it to charge up to 50% in just 35 mins. It also features a full-size keyboard, with 1.3mm key travel distance and 19mm key spacing. Connectivity options include two USB3.0 ports, a USB 2.0 port, HDMI port and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
