Samsung Electronics has appplied for a patent that describes a fingerprint recognition sensor bulit-into a rear-camera module. The S. Korean company has also applied for a variation of the first patent - in this one the fingerprint recognition sensor is positioned into a circular home button oon the front of a device, in a design that looks similar to an iPhone.

Lenovo has chosen to place a fingerprint recognition sensor on the rear side of its most recent phone called 'Phab 2 Pro'.

amsung Electronics has worked with Yonsei University’s Industry Foundation and has applied for a patent on a new iris recognition system, which captures images of the users' eyes and a face as well as iris by using 3 lenses.

This system is composed of lenses with narrow focus to recognize a person’s eyes, as well as lenses with a wider angle of view that capture the user's face.

Such a multi-sensor design could find its way to the upcoming Galaxy Note 7 device, which is expected to launch in the 2nd of August.
