Samsung GALAXY S II Reaches 3 Million Global Sales

Samsung GALAXY S II Reaches 3 Million Global Sales

Smartphones Jul 3,2011 0

Samsung Electronics said Sunday that the Samsung GALAXY S II (Model: GT-I9100), has reached global channel sales of 3 million units 55 days after its launch. The GALAXY S II is Samsung?s flagship smartphone device; a thin (8.49mm) and lightweight, dual-core smartphone that combines a Super AMOLED Plus viewing experience with highperformance, all on Android operating system. The smartphone also includes exclusive access to Samsung?s four new content and entertainment hubs integrated to provide instant access to music, games, e-reading and social networking services.

"This milestone reflects the continued strong support from our carrier partners around the world who have chosen the GALAXY S II as their flagship Android device." said JK Shin, President and Head of Samsung?s Mobile Communications Business.

Samsung is making efforts to boost its overseas sales of the Android-based smartphone in a bid to take a bigger slice in the increasingly competitive smartphone markets. The company expects to sell 10 million units of the Galaxy S2 worldwide like its predecessor, the Galaxy S.

The company last week held launching events in Mexico and Brazil in an effort to penetrate the fast growing South American markets.

In related news, Samsung has reportedly dropped a lawsuit against Apple that claimed Apple copied many of Samsung's innovations.

Samsung dropped the suit on Thursday, according to a report from Bloomberg.

Samsung had launched the suit in April as a counter-claim against Apple, which has sued Samsung previously, saying Samsung's Galaxy line of mobile phones and tablets copies the iPhone and iPad.
