Samsung Galaxy S6 Smartphones Have Memory Leak Problems

Samsung Galaxy S6 Smartphones Have Memory Leak Problems

Smartphones May 3,2015 0

Following complaints from users, Samsung has admitted the Galaxy S6 smartphone has a memory problem. The Korean company confirmed on its UK Facebook page that both the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge have memory mismanagement problems which cause them to slow and apps to forcefully close.

The problem is related to the way apps utilize the available RAM. When an app is no longer in use, the S6 smartphones do not free up the RAM so the next app or service has to utilize additional memory, eventually leading to slowdowns and crashes.

The solutions at present are to hit the ‘Close All’ button in the multitasking card menu to dismiss all apps to try and claw some memory back, or reboot the device.

Samsung said that this memory leak problem has its roots to the Android 5.0 Lollipop OS, and remains active in 5.0.1, 5.0.2 and 5.1.

Hopefully, a solution is on the way.

"Micro-updates are in the process of being rolled out to correct issues relating to device performance and stability… Keep checking for these on your device via Settings>About device>Software update>Update now", Samsung said.

Galaxy S6 'Iron Man version'

In related news Samsung plans to launch "Iron Man versions" of the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge as early as this month.

The new phones will reflect design aspects of Iron Man's armored suit. The character is an American superhero featured in the recently released "Avengers: Age of Ultron" filmed partly in Seoul.
