Samsung launches 2021 range of Dolby Atmos soundbars
Samsung's new flagship HW-Q950A is a powerful 11.1.4ch system with wireless rear speakers. The company is also launching more affordable options.
Samsung's new soundbars
Announced in January, the new 11.1.4ch Samsung HW-Q950A is an upgrade over last year's 9.1.4ch HW-Q950T. HW-Q950A has built-in stereo, center, and side-firing units plus up-firing units for Dolby Atmos and DTS:X. In addition, it comes with a wireless subwoofer and wireless rear speakers with additional up- and side-firing units (4.0.2ch). It is available without rear speakers (7.1.2ch) as HW-Q900A. LG, Sony, Sennheiser and other brands are also offering Dolby Atmos soundbar solutions but Samsung is the only company that can claim to have a 11.1.4ch system in a compact form factor as opposed to full receiver-based Atmos systems. Samsung's 2021 soundbars come with features like HDMI eARC, HDMI input, Apple AirPlay 2, Spotify Connect, Amazon Alexa, and Bluetooth. 'Q-Symphony' integration lets the soundbar and a compatible Samsung TV play in conjunction. New 3.1.2ch Samsung HW-Q800A, HW-Q700A and HW-Q600A systems are also available now, all with Dolby Atmos support. In addition, Samsung is rolling out more conventional 3.1 and 2.1 channel soundbars as part of its A-series. These will be known as HW-A650, HW-A550, and HW-A450.
