Samsung to Produce 28nm CPU For Micro Servers
Samsung has initiated production of an ARM-based 32bit CPU for the micro server market.
The low-power CPU will be installed new micro servers coming from Dell and HP this year, according to sources in S. Korea.
Samsung used the 28nm High-K Metal Gate production process for the new processor, and is also expected to release 64bit CPU based on ARM Cortex-A15 as well as a more powerful ARM Cortex-A57 CPU next year. The latter could aim Intel in the server market.
Samsung has signed an architecture license agreement with ARM some years ago.
