Samsung Said To Deliberately Disabling Windows Update
Microsoft expert Patrick Barker claims that Samsung's SW Update software is responsible for disabling Microsoft's Windows Update service in Samsung PCs. SW Update is the typical OEM updating software that will update your Samsung drivers, the bloatware that came on your Samsung machine, etc. But according to Barker, the only difference between other OEM updating software is, Samsung's disables the Windowsupdate.exe service, potantially leaving Samsung PC running Windows XP and above without access to fixes that keep them safe from malware and software exploits.
When he spoke to a Samsung helpdesk representative, he was told Windows updates stopped certain hardware working on Samsung PCs, such as USB 3.0 drives.
Neither Samsung nor Microsoft have yet responded to requests for comment.
Barker claims that the Samsung file that disabled the Windows update should be classed as malware and blocked.
