Sharp to Introduce 4K2K LCD Monitor

Sharp to Introduce 4K2K LCD Monitor

PC components Nov 28,2012 0

Sharp is bringing its IGZO technology to the desktop with the release of the 32-inch PN-K321 (3,840 x 2,160 pixels) LCD monitor into the Japanese market. The new professional monitor is Sharp's latest ultra-high-definition display and features smaller transistors (TFTs) in the LCD panel compared to conventional displays, thereby increasing the amount of transmitted light per pixel. In addition, Sharp's IGZO technology makes it possible to adopt a specially designed edge-lit LED backlight system that enables the depth of the main body to be reduced to a mere 35 mm to achieve a thin design.

Sharp has adopted three primary colors (RGB) or the new panel, which features a resolution of 140ppi and a brightness of 250cd / m2.

Further, input connectors are compatible with the latest DisplayPort and HDMI interface specifications, enabling the PN-K321 to be connected to a PC via a single cable for the display of large volumes of 4K2K data. The monitor is also equipped with 2ch x 2W speakers and a headphone output.

The company said the new monitor will go on sale for about &yen.450,000 (US$5,500) in Japan.

Earlier this month Sharp said that finding buyers for the IGZO panels was critical as the company tries to end losses at its display business. Sharp has also disclosed that at least one Japanese company will use its IGZO panels in its products early next year, with foreign brands to follow.
