Sharp Unveils New Flagship AQUOS CX1 8K series of TVs

Sharp Unveils New Flagship AQUOS CX1 8K series of TVs

Consumer Electronics Apr 6,2020 0

Sharp's new flagship 8K LCD TV models 8T-C70CX1 and 8T-C60CX1 featuring a CS4K tuner built-in are launching on April 25 in the Japanese market.

Prices for the 70-inch 8T-C70CX1 and the 60-inch 8T-C60CX1 models is about 600,000 and 450,000 yen, respectively.

Each has a resolution of 7,680 x 4,320 dots, a viewing angle of 176 ° vertically and horizontally, two tweeters (10Wx2), two mid (10Wx2), and two subwoofers (15Wx2).

The new TVs employ the "8K Pure Color Panel", which increases the purity of the three primary colors of light and expands the color gamut by about 16% compared to conventional models. They also come with a built-in BS8K tuner. In addition, if the dedicated external USB HDD "8R-C80A1" is used, it can also record 8K broadcasts.

The TVs use Sharp's Medalist Z1 8K image processing engine to automatically adjust the contrast according to the light and dark levels of the video and also up-converts terrestrial digital broadcasting and 4K broadcasting to 8K information.

They also support HDR10, HLG, and Dolby Vision. Sharp's AI function "COCORO VISION" learns viewing trends and notifies recommended programs. The TVs also support Android TV functions powered by the Google Assistant.

Other features include the "8K sports view" video mode of watching sports in 4K broadcasts in smooth, 8K resolution (upconverted, interpolated) powered by a 120Hz technology. Content of Blu-ray disc video is also upconverted to 8K.
