Sony VAIO Z Series Laptop Retails In North America For $2000

Sony VAIO Z Series Laptop Retails In North America For $2000

PC components Jul 14,2011 0

The luxurious Sony VAIO Z series of laptops goes on pre-sale starting today. It's a 0.66" thin, 2.5lb light premium PC made from a mix of carbon fiber and aluminum, and it?s loaded with high-end specs.

The most striking difference between the VAIO Z is the Power Media Dock. It?s a docking station unlike any before it; snap in your Z and get access to an optical drive, 3 USB ports, one of which is 3.0, and an AMD Radeon HD 6650M GPU. That means that when it?s in the dock, the Sony VAIO Z supports up to 4 HD displays (including the built in LCD).

Inside the actual PC is a second-generation Core i5 or i7 processor with Intel Turbo Boost with clock speeds of up to 3.40 GHz , optional dual-channel SSDs with RAID , and a choice of either an HD+ 1600 x 900 or full HD 1920 x 1080 display.

The Z Series laptop ispowerd by a slim-profile battery that delivers up to 8 hours of battery life. Users looking for even more flexibility can purchase an optional large-capacity sheet battery that attaches flush to the bottom of the computer and extends the battery life to up to 16 hours.

With new built-in Intel Wireless Display Technology, the Z Series can send movies, videos and photos stored on its drives or home network to a television in full 1080p HD and 5.1 surround sound (TV adapter required and sold separately).

The VAIO Z Series comes equipped with the latest select Windows 7 operating systems. The laptops will retail for about $2,000 and will be available for presale at www.sony.com/pr/zseries today.
