TDK launches software for MPEG-4 distribution

TDK launches software for MPEG-4 distribution

General Interest Apr 18,2001 0

Not so CDR related but very interesting:

"...TDK on May 7 plans to launch its "WanderStream" software package for distributing images in compliance with MPEG-4 system layers. The package software consists of the following four components: (1) the WanderStream main server, (2) the WanderStream live server, (3) the WanderStream manager, and (4) the WanderStream player. The component (1) is for performing real-time coding and streaming of image data, and streaming of stored image data. The component (2) is for performing only real-time coding and streaming of image data; the manager (3) is server software to control the components (1) and (2); and the player (4) is client software for coding and synthesizing images. They do not only conform to the MPEG-4 system but also correspond to object-based coding and IP multicast.

Running the components (1) and (2) requires server machine equipped with a Pentium 4 processor operating on a 1.5GHz or higher clock. They work on Windows 2000 and Windows NT4.0. Main memory requirement is 128MB or more; and there should be 128MB or more free space on the hard disk drive. The component (4) needs a Windows PC using the Pentium III processor with the operating frequency of 500MHz or higher. Its main memory requirement is 128MB or more; and there should be 10MB or more free space on the hard disk drive.

The software product in the minimum configuration for distributing images is priced at 590,000 yen ($4792) or more. Pricing for the high-end version, including development tools for distribution software and additional functions such as object distribution, is 3.61 million yen ($29319) or more..." NULL
