Tesla To Release Auto-park Upgrade in Six Weeks
Tesla's ‘Summon’ auto-parking feature will be upgraded within six weeks, allowing Tesla vehicles to drive around a parking lot, find an empty spot and read parking signs.
The announcement was made by Tesla Chief Executive Elon Musk on Thursday via a series of Tweets.
The over-the-air software upgrade will work on all Tesla cars made in past 2 years (Autopilot hardware V2+), Musk added.
The Tesla cars will drive to your phone location and "follow you like a pet" if you hold down summon button on Tesla app. In addition, you’ll be able to drive it from your phone remotely like a big RC car if in line of sight.
Summon, part of Tesla’s driver-assist Self-Pilot system, currently allows Model S drivers to park their cars from outside the vehicle in tight spots or to move the cars short distances to shift parking spot.
