TraxData 1GB SD Memory Card - Page 2

- Installation

For our benchmark tests, we used FD Tach beta 0.9.0.3 along with TraxData's 11in1 memory card reader.

For comparison, we provide the test resulta against a SanDisk 16MB card (blue bars) in terms of reading:

and writing

The performance for the 1GB SD card, was around 5Mb/sec for reading and 3.81Mb/sec for writing. Other results, 1.2ms sequential and 7.5ms random access, times which are very low.

We then used the TraxData 1GB SD card with the Canon Ixus 40, primarilly at 320x240x60fps setting, where the card worked very well as it did also with the 640x480x30fps video capture mode. In all cases, the card responded very quickly and didn't exhibit any performance delays. Of course, the announced 10MB/sec reading/writing is far from what the card delivers, but day to day needs will be covered.

- Conclusion

TraxData has a good track record, delivering quality products for photographers and its latest 1GB SD card is no exception. Most of our storage needs, especially for digital photography, can be covered with 1GB SD cards, especially when combined with high performance. From the test results, the performance was not top notch but again it is satisfactory for most digital camera needs, where reading/writing speed is important. We don't know the exact price tag, but it should be very competitive to combat the fierce competition from other known brand memory cards.
