Xiaomi has officially announced the Mi 5, its latest flagship device, along with the Mi 4S model, at events held in Beijing and Barcelona. The Mi 5 is a 5.15-inch smartphone powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 820 processor. It will ship with up to 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, a 3,000mAh battery, and a "3D ceramic" body - a metal frame, front and rear glass panels. A fingerprint sensor is integrated into the home button. The Mi 5's camera is a 16-megapixel unit with four-axis optical image stabilization.

The Mi 5 runs Xiaomi's MIUI 7 interface on top of Android 6.0 Marshmallow. It's the first phone that ships with Xiaomi's Mi Video Calling app, a new cross platform video chat app that includes live video effects and multitasking modes.

The phone will be available starting on March 1st and will be priced at $354 (2,600RMB) for the high-end 128GB model and $262 (1,999RMB) for the entry-level 32GB version.

Xiaomi has been shipping its smartphones in China and surrounding Asian countries, but it has yet to bring its phones to Europe or North America.

Xiaomi also updated the succesful Mi 4S model by adding to it an improved metal frame double side glasses and a fingerprint sensor. The result is the Xiaomi 4S.

The fingerprint scanner is located under the 13MP main camera with fast autofocus and dual flash. In contrast to the new flagship Xiaomi Mi 5, the button on the front panel is missing.

The smartphone is equipped with a six-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor with Adreno 418 graphics accelerator and 3GB RAM. Built-in memory is 64 GB, but the phone has a micro SD card slot that was missing in the Mi 4 model and supports two SIM-cards. As in many other Xiaomi models the card slot is combined with one of the SIM-trays.

The battery capacity is 3260mAh and it supports the Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0.

Xiaomi Mi 4S runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS with MIUI 7 shell.

The Mi 4S will be on sale for just RMB1699 (approximately $260). This is the price for 3GB RAM + 64GB version.

On top of that, Xiaomi has designed a special edition Mi 4S just for ladies. It's similar to Mi Note Pink Edition, which has a whole body of pink.
