Xiaomi Launches New Redmi Note 3 Smartphone And Mi Pad 2 Tablet

Chinese tech firm Xiaomi has unveiled two new gadgets: The low-cost Redmi Note 3 smartphone and the Mi Pad 2, a 7.9-inch metal-body tablet that looks like an iPad mini, but is available running Windows 10 as well as the company's MIUI Android OS. The announcements were made today at China National Convention Center in Beijing.

Redmi Note 3 smartphone is equipped with a 5.5-inch 1080p Full HD screen. It has an all-metal slim body - at its thickest point its width is just 8.65mm and weighs 164g.

The phone is powered by a 64-bit flagship MediaTek Helio X10 processor (Cortex-A53) and is equipped with fast charging 4000mAh battery, which can charge up to 50% in an hour.

On the back side of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 there is a fingerprint sensor. Users unlock unlock the device in just 0.3s.

The new phone has a 13-megapixel camera with a two-tone flash and a phase detection auto-focus (PDAF) capable to focus on in 0.1s, as well as a 5-megapixel front camera.

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 uses the new MIUI 7 system installed. It will come in two variants ? with 2GB RAM and 16GB memory (RMB 899 - $140), and also with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage (RMB 1099 - $171).

Meanwhile, the Mi Pad 2 looks like Apple devices. But while the original Mi Pad had a colorful plastic casing, the new Mi Pad 2 has an all-metal construction that's much more similar to the iPad mini. Xiaomi says the Mi Pad 2 is lighter and thinner than the first-generation Mi Pad, and comes with 2GB of RAM, 16GB or 64GB of internal storage, and a 7.9-inch, 2048 x 1536 resolution screen.

The Mi Pad 2 is powered by an Intel 64-bit Atom X5-Z8500 processor, and is equipped with a reversible USB Type-C port.

The 16GB Mi Pad 2 will be available in China from November 27th for RMB 999 or $156, while the 64GB version will sell for RMB 1299 or around $200. The Windows 10 version of the device will only be available with 64GB of storage and will go on sale in late December for RMB 1299.
