Xiaomi's new Redmi K30 currently is currently the cheapest 5G-enabled smartphone in the world.

Announced today in China, the 5G handset is starting from 1,999 yuan ($284). Launch is set for January 2020.

It is the first smartphone to use Qualcomm's new Snapdragon 765G gaming-centric 5G chipset. The new System on Chip brings support for dual-mode 5G connectivity on the Redmi K30 Pro 5G.

The Redmi K30 5G is equipped with a 6.67- 120Hz display (2,400 × 1,080) 20:9 screen, and a DualDotDisplay with ultra-small punch-hole design that achieves a 91% screen-to-body ratio.

Prices in China are the following:

Redmi K30 series come equipped with a 64MP quad rear camera setup. The main camera sports Sony’s IMX686 1/1.17-inch large sensor, ensuring a high resolving power to directly output 64MP shots and 9248 x 6936 high resolution images. Redmi K30 series also offers a 4-in-1 1.6μm Super Pixel camera with a Night Mode 2.0 feature and the latest RAW multi-frame AI noise reduction algorithm to capture rich details in low light conditions.
Along with the camera setup, Redmi K30 series also introduces an array of entertaining features, including the widely acclaimed Movie Mode which supports 2.39:1 anamorphic frame and twelve filter options. The device is capable of outputting pictures in RAW format and supports AI Skyscaping with eight newly added filters, enabling more creative possibilities for post-editing. Moreover, Redmi K30 series offers Vlog mode and AI Chinese audio transcribing capabilities which automatically adds Chinese subtitles while someone is speaking. With these dedicated features, Redmi K30 series allows users to create video content with enhanced ease.

Aside from the 64MP main camera, Redmi K30 series also comes with a 120° ultra-wide angle camera, a 2cm macro camera, a professional portrait lens and a 20MP dual AI front camera that creates a natural bokeh effect.

The device is running on the MIUI 11 OS and also supports wi-fi IEEE 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.0 and NFC connectivity.

On the charging front, Redmi K30 5G supports 30W fast charging and adopts an all-new charging architecture and Mi Fast Charge technology, allowing its 4500mAh big battery to be fully charged within 66 minutes.

Xiaomi also announcd the 4G vesion of the Redmi K30. This model uses the Snapdragon 730G SoC , a 120Hz screen refresh rate and 64MP cameral camera and supports 27W fast wireless charging. This model will retail in China at the following prices:
