Zoran Corporation today announced that the Vaddis DVD Decoder IC is in five new DVD products from Toshiba The new models include an ultra-portable, an advanced DVD-Audio player, two new TV/DVD combination units, and two DVD-Video players. The Vaddis runs the full-featured ultra-portable SDP1500 DVD-Video player with an 8-inch widescreen active matrix LCD panel that displays the unit's exceptional picture performance and multi-disc playback for DVD-Video, DVD-R, CD-Audio, Video CD, CD-R and CD-RW.

``Exploiting the full potential of the DVD format, Toshiba offers the broadest range of DVD player products for every consumer need and budget. Our portable players perform to the same exacting standards as our most advanced full-sized models. The SDP1500 is the culmination of years of research and development of leading-edge DVD technologies,'' said Craig Eggers, Toshiba's Director of Product Management for DVD.

``Our long-term relationship with Zoran allows us to deliver the latest audio and video features including DVD-Audio, the next generation standard for high-resolution audio content on optical disc.''

The SD9200 is Toshiba's high-performance DVD-Audio model powered by the Vaddis. This state-of-the-art multi-channel player supports the high-resolution DVD-Audio format leveraging the inherent advantages in high-density DVD media storage for delivering a higher level of digital audio performance for listeners.

``By incorporating programmable audio and video processors in our Vaddis DVD family of ICs, we are able to provide the latest DVD standards to our OEM customers' products,'' said Michael L. Wood, Vice President and General Manager, Home Entertainment Division at Zoran. ``The Vaddis delivers the DVD-Audio standard and video enhancement filtering for sharper images, optimizing the consumer home theater experience. The low power consumption of the Vaddis delivers high quality performance and improved battery life in Toshiba's ultra-portable SPD1500 model.''

The Vaddis powers Toshiba's two new TV/DVD combination units. The Model MD20FL1 20-inch flat-screen TV/DVD combo offers enhanced picture edge detail and sharpness in a unit that also serves as a high-performance stereo television. Its portable companion, the Model MD9DL1 9-inch TV/DVD AC/DC combination unit, offers high-quality features in an ultra-portable package. Both combo units offer front-panel audio/video jacks for added flexibility.

Toshiba's new DVD-Video player models running on the Vaddis include SD3750 and the ultra-portable SDP1500, mentioned above.

``We continue to build on our long and productive alliance with Zoran while leveraging our combined expertise and yielding creative solutions for our customers,'' said Mr. Akira Kashiwagi, CEO, Fujifilm Microdevices Co., Ltd. ``We are honored to support market innovator Toshiba in delivering new Vaddis-based products that extend the capabilities of the DVD platform into new products.''
