BenQ lowers price of LightScribe 16x DVD DL burner
BenQ has recently lowered the retail price of DW1625, its LightScribe 16x DVD Dual DL burner model, from
the US$111 price at its launch in early March to around US$95, according to sources in Taiwanese retail
channel.
As retail prices are 30%-40% higher than those of 16x DVD Dual DL burner models, sales performance of
LightScribe 16x DVD Dual DL burners has fallen short of expectations, and this is the reason behind the
price cut, according to BenQ.
However, Worldtech, the exclusive local sales agent for Hewlett-Packard (HP), indicated that it will not follow suit with the retail prices of HP LightScribe 16x DVD Dual DL burners to remain at the current level of US$105-108.
Due to the pre-summer vacation off peak period, leading and foreign brands have reduced retail prices of their 16x DVD Dual DL burners.
