D-Link Debuts its Most Powerful Draft 802.11N Wireless Network Family
The Xtreme N family is designed for larger homes and offices with high-speed Internet using multiple PCs, game consoles and other digital home devices such as streaming media adapters
D-Link is now shipping its most powerful home networking routers and adapters yet using the latest Draft 802.11n wireless technology.
The D-Link Xtreme N Gigabit Router (DIR-655) and its accompanying Xtreme N desktop and notebook adapters (DWA-552 and DWA-652, respectively) are designed for consumers, small businesses and gamers who demand the highest performance possible from their wireless networks.
"Hard-wiring a location for networking is not a viable solution for many consumers and small business owners," said AJ Wang, chief technology officer of D-Link "Our new Xtreme N family is the most advanced home networking family we've introduced to date, designed to meet the needs of today's digital world by providing wireless speeds that rival that of a wired connection along with greater signal coverage to reach the farthest corners of a home or office, enabling customers to get the most from their network and applications."
With faster speeds and further range than that found in 802.11g wireless products, the D-Link Xtreme N Router is the industry's first Gigabit Draft N router to incorporate Intelligent Wireless Quality of Service (QoS) Technology that automatically prioritizes high-bandwidth, latency-sensitive wireless data traffic, allowing users to experience smooth streaming HD video, lag-free gaming and jitter-free voice over Internet (VoIP) calls. D-Link XtremeN QoS is powered by StreamEngine technology from Ubicom.
The Xtreme N router is also ships with Gigabit local area network (LAN) and Gigabit wide area network (WAN) ports. In addition, the Xtreme N router comes with an integrated wireless security wizard, Windows Connect Now (WCN) support for easily connecting WCN-enabled devices, Network Magic's management features from Pure Networks, removable antennas for flexible installation, and a wall-mount option.
The D-Link Xtreme N product line also includes the Xtreme N Desktop Adapter (DWA-552) and Xtreme N Notebook Adapter (DWA-652) designed to optimize the Draft 802.11n wireless network experience. A recent addition to D-Link's Draft 802.11n wireless offerings is the RangeBooster N USB adapter (DWA-142), designed to allow users to connect either a desktop or notebook PC to a draft 802.11n, g or b network to take advantage of data sharing and multi-media applications that include VoIP, gaming, photo image sharing, streaming music and video, printer sharing and more.
