ASUS M4A89 Xtreme Design Motherboards Feature Core Unlocker

ASUS has garnered media distinction with its Core Unlocker technology, which unlocks latent cores on AMD CPUs installed on ASUS M4A89 Series and AMD 800 chipset-based motherboards. Core Unlocker was developed by ASUS to activate latent AMD CPU cores. To experience an instant processing boost, users simply turn on a switch on the new M4A89 Series or press the number "4" key during the power-on self test in existing M4 series motherboards.

Based on the latest AMD 890 chipset and Socket AM3, the M4A89 Series will support upcoming 6-core Phenom II processors to provide more performance and multi-tasking capabilities. It also accommodates ATI CrossFireX and NVIDIA Hybrid CrossFireX technology. In addition, the M4A89 Series includes the latest USB 3.0 and SATA 6Gbps transmission technology.



ASUS Readies Server Platforms for 32nm, 6-core Performance

In related news, ASUS today announced that it is ready to support upcoming 32nm, 6-core processor platforms in its refreshed server and workstation lines. ASUS server motherboards and systems will support Intel Xeon 5600 processors, while its workstation motherboards will be ready for Intel Core i7 980X and Xeon W3680 processors.

The Intel Xeon 5600 Series processors are based on the new 32nm infrastructure to deliver 50% more cores and cache, as well as 60% more performance than its 45nm predecessor. It also consumes 30% less power than previous generation processors. They support various security features such as Advanced Encryption Standard New Instructions (AES-NI).

The new Intel Core i7-980X and Xeon W3680 processors have six cores and 12 threads. Equipped with Intel Turbo Boost Technology, the processor also intelligently scales up performance and power as needed during intensive processing. ASUS? workstation motherboards support all 32nm processors including the Intel Core i7-980X, Xeon W3680, and Xeon 5600 Series.
