Zen and Infineon Take the Next Step Towards TrueX DVD
"..Infineon has announced that it is developing an optical chip based on Zen Research's TrueX CD/DVD-ROM technology. The new single chip solution will allow drive makers to build competitively priced TrueX DVD drives that perform three to four times faster and offer transfer rates that exceed those of today's hard drives. The companies have forged the alliance in an effort to make DVD the removable drive of choice.
The alliance covers technology exchanges between the two companies, cooperative marketing arrangements, and the acquisition of a minority equity stake in Zen by Infineon. Infineon will gain access to Zen's single-channel DVD technologies and Zen will have Infineon's on-chip intellectual property. Infineon will act as a semiconductor foundry for Zen Multibeam TrueX controller products and the companies will jointly market IC solutions for high-performance DVD drive applications.." NULL
