User Alert: Yamaha gives CRW2100x users a Xmas gift!

User Alert: Yamaha gives CRW2100x users a Xmas gift!

General Interest Dec 22,2000 0

Yamaha released yesterday the new firmware (1.0h) for CRW2100x series. The new firmware finally fixes the DAO-RAW problem and now you can backup your favorite protected CDs!

CloneCD has banned Yamaha CDR-W drives and the only way to unlock DAO-RAW is the following trick:

- Start>>Run>>Regedit>>HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Elaborate Bytes\CloneCD\SystemSettings\ .Add the following DWORD Value: DontCheckCDWriter - Value=1

This way CloneCD will not check the drive's real capabilites and will allow DAO-RAW/SAO-RAW for all CDR-W drives even they don't support it...Doing this with some writers could cause real trouble so please take care!

We have tested the new firmware with CloneCD and managed to create working backup of V-Rally 2 Expert Edition. :)

As Jeremy emailed us:
"..I've tested and successfully backup up the following games and protections with Yamaha CRW2100S (1.0h firmware):

MDK2
Heart of Darkness
Half-Life: Opposing Force
The Sims: Livin' Large EP

I tried but was unable to copy these games and protections: Command & Conquer: RA2 SafeDisc v2 American McGee's Alice SafeDisc v2.." NULL
