The improved version of Google Maps has appeared on the App Store for users of the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch operating under iOS 6. The new version for Apple devices comes just a few days after its release for Android.

The update provides users options for places to eat, drink, stay or shop in any given place. Suggestions abound through services such as Zagat or Google Offers, integrated into search results. Zagat provides information on nearby restaurants rated in its guide, while Google Offers allows users to take advantage of the latest local promotional deals.

The app also features live reports on traffic problems, and even alerts users when a better alternative route is available.
