Japan Display Develops 12.1-inch 4K2K TFT LCD Module
Japan Display has developed a 12.1-inch 4K2K TFT module, the world's highest resolution density (365ppi) display designed for tablet use.
The display allows users to enjoy images within the resolution range of full high-definition (Full-HD) smartphones, with approximately 4 times larger screen size.
JDI claims that low temperature poly silicon technology (LTPS) enables high-capacity
information content and high-resolution, but also low power consumption, thinner module and narrower dead-band, which suits mobile-use devices like tablets.
Japan Display will exhibit these displays on October 23 to 25, 2013, during FPD International 2013 in Pacifico Yokohama, Japan.

bottom 6.8mm
- NTSC ratio: 70%
- Contrast ratio: 1000:1 (Typ.)
- Viewing angle: >160 degree CR>100:1
- Surface luminance: 500cd/m2 (Typ.)
- Power consumption at 500cd/m2: 3600mW, (360mW without backlight)

Japan Display also today announced that it will establish a new subsidiary in Taiwan in order to strengthen its presence in the rapidly growing market of China. JDI believes that this is a landmark milestone that represents further strengthening of the relationship between Japan and Taiwan in the small- and medium-sized display industry.
The new company will be offering semi-customized, middle-range displays, which are currently experiencing rapid growth in demand in China, in addition to the high-end displays that have been JDI's main product category.
The new company (Taiwan Display Inc.) is going to start its business by end of 2013.
