Samsung's Next Smartwatch to Go Solo
Samsung's next generation smartwatch - dubbed Gear Solo -- will reportedly come with its own SIM card and thus, operate indepenently.
According to Korea Herald's sources, wearers will be able to use the watch for making voice calls and for surfing the next, with or without a smartphone.
Samsung has already launched four devices that could be considered smartwatches -- the Samsung Galaxy Gear, the Gear 2, the Gear 2 Neo, and the Samsung Gear Fit. The Solo will make it five watches in less than eight months.
The smartwatch market is expected to heat up considerably over the course of 2014. Devices from LG, Motorola and HTC are expected and are set to be powered by a special version of Android optimized for wearable technology devices, while Apple is also expected to launch its first smartwatch, dubbed the 'iWatch', in September.
