After many years of absence, Japanese Sharp is bringing a smartphone to the U.S. market - the new Aquos Crystal.
The handset is the first with a display that runs right up to the left or right hand side of the phone. The company has managed to do away with the bezel. The result is a device that measures 131mm by 67mm yet offers a 5-inch display. To put that into perspective, the iPhone 4S only has a 3.5-inch display yet the handset measures 115.2mm by 58.6mm.
The Crystal X will feature a 5.5-inch display and it is expected to be officially unveiled on August 19 by Sprint. There will also be a 5-inch model, which will come with a Quad-Core 1.2GHz CPU. The 5.5-inch version wil lbe powered by a 2.3GHz Snapdragon 801 chip.
Both will boast the latest version of Android, Harmon Kardon audio technology and a 720p HD display.
