HP today announced the the new Omen laptop, a purpose-built gaming machine, with a quad-core Intel Core i7 processor and Nvidia GTX 860m graphics card. Priced at $1,499, Omen is available for order from HP's online store today.

The HP OMEN is powered by the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 860M and Intel Core i7 Quad Core processor, it offers a 15.6" diagonal, 1080p touch-enabled display that supports a 72% color gamut, a standard 128GB solid-state drive (SSD), optional 256GB and 512GB PCIe SSD drives, 8GB or 16GB DDR3 memory options and graphics memory of 2GB or 4GB GDDR5.

Dual fans pull cool air through the bottom of the system, pushing hot air through exhaust fans at the rear of the system.

At 19.9mm thin and 4.68lbs, the HP OMEN is portable, with a chassis CNC milled from aluminum, and anodized with a black finish. To keep clear of mouse and accessory real estate on either side of the PC, all ports have all been placed in the back of the device. Ports include power, HDMI, mini DisplayPort, and 4 USB 3.0 jacks; an Ethernet dongle is also included.

The HP OMEN keyboard is optimized for gameplay and includes six programmable function keys. HP OMEN's Beats Audio speakers also have multicolor lighting that can be customized and set to respond to the audio of games, music, or movies.
