Galaxy S6 Expected to Have Displays On Both Edges

Galaxy S6 Expected to Have Displays On Both Edges

Smartphones Jan 20,2015 0

Samsung's Galaxy S6 next flagship smartphone, which is scheduled to be showcased in March, is rumored to have 4GB of RAM, a 64-bit processor and a 20 megapixels camera. The Korea Times cite industry sources as saying that Samsung has established a plan to open the 4GB RAM smartphone era with the Galaxy S6, which will feature the company's own 4GB LPDDR4 mobile DRAM. The module is said to be twice as fast as the DDR3 DRAM used in the Galaxy Note 4. Moreover, it consumes less power, it will allow the phone to record and play UHD video and continuously shoot 20 megapixel photos. Last but not least, 4GB of RAM would take full advantage of the phone's 64-bit processor.

The Galaxy S6 is also said feature display areas in both of its slim sides, as we saw in the Galaxy Note Edge. On top of that, a wireless charging method will reportedly be introduced with the new model. It is also expected to have a touch-type finger recognition sensor for mobile payments and a 5 megapixel camera on the front.

In related news, another report claims that Apple's dependence on Samsung Electronics for mobile phone parts is still growing.

Industry sources in S. Korea claim that Apple recently decided to request Samsung to manufacture 70 percent of A9 APs, core components for the iPhone 6S and iPhone 7.

Samsung used to make all the APs for the iPhone series until 2012, but later Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) started to produce most APs, as Apple was trying to to diversify its suppliers and due to the patent disputes between the two firms. However, Apple and Samsung have since then decided to withdraw patent lawsuits in other countries besides the U.S.

Samsung has also succeeded to mass produce its own AP using the production process of 14 nm FinFETs, which mean that the chip's
power consumption and dimensions have been reduced compared to the 20nm components.

Regarding DRAM, Apple's iPhones mainly use chips made by SK Hynix, Micron Technology and Samsung.
