Apple will reportedly head into the car business, according to a report. BusinessInsider claims that an Apple employee disclosed that his group was working on something that will, "give Tesla a run for its money." Tesla is the world's leading electric car maker.

Bloomberg reported that Tesla and Apple have been in a hiring war for some time.

However, it is not clear whether Apple is working on an actual car or on some other kind of car-related technology.

Apple has seperately annnounced today plans to spend $850 million on a massive solar energy project that will generate enough power for the computer giant's new office campus, retail stores and its other California operations.

The new solar farm is being constructed on 1,300 acres in rural Monterey County, south of the San Francisco Bay Area where Apple is headquartered.
