Memorex adds 3-disc packs to recordable DVD media line-up

Memorex adds 3-disc packs to recordable DVD media line-up

General Interest Jan 8,2002 0

Memorex announced today that it will expand its current DVD product line by offering two new 3-disc combination packs. The leader in retail digital media, Memorex entered the recordable DVD media marketplace in late 2000 and currently markets all current types of DVD recordable blank media products including DVD-R, DVD+RW and DVD-RAM. Memorex 4.7 GB DVD-R blank media 3-packs will be available in January 2002 at a suggested retail price of $29.99. Memorex also announced that the suggested retail price of 4.7 GB DVD-R singles has been reduced to $12.99 from $19.99. And in a related announcement DVD-RW 4.7 GB singles will also be available in January 2002 with a SRP of $14.99.

``We are seeing several trends emerging in our DVD recordable media business,'' stated Michael Golacinski, president of Memorex. ``The DVD environment is quite similar to that of the early days of CD-R. Our distribution partners are seeing sales momentum build within the professional service industries of medical, legal and finance, as well as publishing, education and law enforcement. By offering 3-disc packages we can offer significant value to volume users. If these current trends continue, we will soon be offering our Memorex spindle packs in both leading types of DVD media,'' continued Golacinski.
