Nokia Rumored To Develop Own "Viki" Mobile Digital Assistant
Nokia may be jumping in on the digital assistant bandwagon, as it has filed for a trademark today in Europe for a web-based assistant code named "Viki".
According to the patent, Viki will be used for mobile and web-based "assistants working with digital knowledge and combining all data sources into a single chat and voice-based interface."
Nokia declined to provide any comment.
A new digital AI would join Apple's Siri, Amazon's Alexa, Microsoft's Cortana, the recently launched Google Assistant and Samsung's Bixby, set to debut on the Galaxy S8.
Over the weekend, HMD Global revealed that the launch of its first Android-based smartphone with the Nokia brand, called the Nokia 6, will happen in China sometime in early 2017.
