Microsoft releases additional updates for older Windows platforms including Windows XP and Vista, to protect against potential nation-state activity.

Microsoft has identified some vulnerabilities that pose elevated risk of cyber attacks by government organizations. These are referred to as nation-state actors or other copycat organizations. To address this risk, the cpompany is providing additional security updates along with our regular Update Tuesday service.

Windows users with automatic updates enabled (Windows 10 or Windows 8.1) are protected and there is no additional action required. For those managing updates, or those on older platforms, Microsoft encourages them to apply these updates as soon as possible. The company recommends those on older platforms, such as Windows XP, to prioritize downloading and apply these critical updates, which can be found in the Download Center.

As usual, customers on supported platforms with automatic updates enabled, like Windows 10 or Windows 8.1, are protected and do not need to take additional action.
